Following its publication in July, the GPAI Code of Practice—signed by almost all major GPAI providers—seeks to bring legal clarity and define best practices for complying with the AI Act’s provisions on general-purpose AI models. Whether it will succeed in doing so remains to be seen.
Particularly noteworthy are the Code’s extensive safety and security measures targeting providers of models deemed to pose systemic risks.
This panel will explore how these provisions are being received by key stakeholders, the challenges that arise from them, the key considerations for effective implementation going forward and what to expect from future updates of the code.
